Al's Bio & Tutoring Experience
All of my past tutoring has come through personal contacts: either people I already know, or people I just so happen to meet out in the world. With the latter group (which is the minority), I have always been paid. But with friends, acquaintances, and coworkers, I have usually just volunteered my time. The areas I have tutored have been academics, computers (especially Microsoft Word), Scrabble and chess. What makes me a good tutor is that I try to create a comfortable rapport with the student, and a healthy learning environment, so that the student isn't afraid to ask questions or to make a mistake.
