Alexandra's Education & Certifications
I graduated VCU in 2008 with a BA in Modern Foreign Languages, concentration in German. During my academic career at VCU I was active in the German Club and its events, and then my Junior Fall semester was elected President of the German Club, a position which I held for 2 years until I graduated. Throughout my time at VCU I worked closely with the School of World Studies and German Department Adjunct Professor Victoria Krause, and formed a German tutoring group for her GRMN 101 and 102 students. Eventually, I was asked to be her Teachers Aid during the Spring semester , during which I learned many various techniques of structuring interactive classroom activities that encourage students to practice conversation skills, as well as drafting lesson plans, and follow up quizzes, which I graded and monitored students progress on, as I also collected and graded homework assignments to get a bigger perspective of the overall grasp they had on the course material / language.
Finally, my senior year the head of the Department Dr. Paul F Dvorak officially requested I take the position of intern for the German department , making me the 1st undergraduate student to have completed a TA internship with the VCU German Department.
For my last 2 semesters I served as president to the German Club, headed up the tutoring group and was Dr Dvoraks TA for GRMN 201 Intermediate Literature course as well as his 300 level Advanced Grammar and Writing course. In addition to continuing my work with Professor Krause's GRMN 101 classes.
