Andrea's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I got my BA degree in English in 1995, but after I married and relocated in 1997, I obtained a tutoring job for students (some with special needs) at a local community college. During this time I did some guest-teaching at the college level as well. In 2002, we moved to Europe for a year, during which time I tutored adults in English as a foreign language with a focus on business English. Upon my repatriation, I found a job tutoring ESL to special-needs students in a local school district. After a couple of years working in disability support (providing education and guidance to adults with developmental disabilities), I returned to tutoring in the public schools for a year. I have designed students' curricula from scratch, and am currently homeschooling my teenage son.

I am a native English speaker, and also have a Bachelor's Degree in English, with a focus on writing. I have tutored English (including ESL) to students aged 6 to 62, both in the United States and Europe. In 2005, I fulfilled all the requirements to become a certified teacher of English Language Arts for grades 6-12 in my state. That certification is not reciprocal in my new state of residence; however, I was eligible to teach in my previous state.
