Anh's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience as a tutor. I was a tutor in high school (in chemistry and math) and again in college (chemistry and math) and also when I was in medical school (biochemistry, pharmacology, and anatomy).

I am adaptable. I have a basic method of tutoring, which is to review materials and then have the students work on problems or talk out their thinking process with me until I can identify where the errors are made or where the lack of knowledge is. Then, we go over it, and do the problems or discuss the ideas or topics at hand again. Closer to exam dates, I like to have a "broad-picture" review session. At the initial meeting, I talk with my students first to get a better idea of how they think they learn. Then, I like to observe them and see where it is they need help. There are many different types of students and I try to find a method to teach all of them. I have in the past used a combination of flash cards, powerpoint, writing on chalkboards, question and answer sessions, discussions to help my students master their material.

I am motivated to help my students - their success is my success. I have helped 4 medical students avoid failing grades in their courses and I have helped many of my peers pass their exams. I am also realistic - it may not be possible to make every failing student into an "A" one, but they should pass their courses and feel comfortable with the subject matter.

I am readily available via text or phone-call or email if there are last-minute questions from my pupils. I am very detail-oriented, focused, and I like to make sure I push my students, but remain cognizant of when they need a break or encouragement.

I have a BS in biomedical sciences from U. Florida. I have an MD as well, also from U. Florida. I am a medical resident, but am currently taking time away from my clinical duties for research.
