Bethany's Bio & Tutoring Experience

My name is Bethany and I am looking forward to starting my journey as a private tutor. My schedule is extremely flexible. I am professionally trained as an educator and I am aware of various strategies and techniques that are useful in supporting a learner.

While I am passionate about education in general, there are specific focuses that I have. I believe that learners should be held at a high standard and encouraged to reach his or her potential. I believe that the way a student learns depends largely on his or her culture, tradition, individual experiences, and more. There are a great deal of factors that one must take into account while teaching and these are among the most important. Learners need to be understood before they can be expected to open their minds to new concepts and ideas. I feel that my empathy and my ability to relate to others on any level makes me an intuitive and productive instructor.

Lastly, in order to be an effective instructor, the learner must feel comfortable. I look forward to providing a safe and comfortable environment that supports student goals and potential and that is free from judgements.

I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education and graduated with a 3.65 GPA. My focus is secondary (grades 7-12) social studies. While I am certified to teach grades 7-12 in Ohio, I am more than willing to teach other age groups as well. My certification is in social studies. Some classes/subjects that are included in social studies are world history, modern world history, American history, current events, political science, sociology, and psychology. However, these are not the only subject areas in which I am knowledgeable. I would feel comfortable and confident in other subject areas as well.
