Brian's Bio & Tutoring Experience

Hi everyone!

My name is Brian Chien, and I've been tutoring middle school, high school, and even community college level students ever since 2011 for Building Academic Achievement Within Our Generation (BAAWG) in the Chicagoland area before moving to New Hampshire. I mainly teach mathematics, but I can also tutor science and English as well.

I have tutored students for both remedial as well as advancement purposes. All students who were getting tutoring to test out of their current math passed the exam with scores above 95%. My tutoring focuses on building a strong fundamental foundation in understanding the concepts while potentially moving on to practical applications.

I will normally give an introductory meeting so I can discuss further details, as well as work out the times for sessions. All of the information from that meeting will be written down on a syllabus that I will give to the parent. I will also occasionally write quizzes/exams for students to take to determine how they are doing.

I scored a 34 composite on the ACT including writing with a 36 on the math section.

When I am not teaching I enjoy playing guitar (I taught during the spring semester), piano, as well as basketball. I played varsity basketball and was co-team captain for the track team.

I am currently a rising sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign working towards a B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering. I went to high school at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, a rigorous institution where students had to live on-campus.
