Cherie's Bio & Tutoring Experience

While in college, I was a Peer Instructor for Math 2 and College Algebra. This means that I sat in a class and took notes as if I was a student. Then, when I conducted group study sessions outside of class, I would know what the teacher was teaching and how he wanted it done. I have also volunteered at a community center help children in 4th grade with math.
When I was a Peer Instructor, I had numerous students tell me how I helped them go from an F to an A in a class they taken before. I was also told that I was able to translate Math into English that anyone could understand. I have also had people tell me that the first time they "got" math was after I explained it to them.
I have learn through both of these experiences how to tailor my approach to the individual and how to go as slow as the person I'm tutoring needs me to go so that I can best help them.
