Christine's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I have multiple years of experience tutoring in learning labs, in online writing labs, with ESL students, and through disability services. Primarily, I've focused on writing. However, I've taught math and some history independently over the years. I have work experience as an editor and reporter for the college newspaper and for a sleep specialist at Stanford University.

My tutoring methodology is to use realism to create worth and inevitability in education. Some students are self driven and can find worth in a letter grade or praise from the teacher. Other students find the system to be a chore with little or no reward. My goal is always to prove worth in education. In this way, a student can complete their work knowing that it is a means to an end. Of course, I always try to make it fun and hope that the student likes the material by the end of the session. But in reality, some subjects simply have to be 'plowed through', and I enjoy providing students with the tools to succeed in these situations.

I have my master's degree in healthcare administration, which was obtained entirely online. This learning experience has enabled me to understand what is challenging in regards to online education, and I am better equipped to tutor online as a result.
