Danny's Bio & Tutoring Experience

My name is Danny Lopez and I am currently a part time employee for St. Charles Hospital of Bend and at the Athletic Club of Bend while I continue to make my way to obtaining my license to practice acupuncture in Oregon. I moved to Sisters, Oregon last July from San Diego to marry my wife, who was originally from the area, and I haven't looked back at city life since.

I have tutored various subjects in the past ranging from, but not limited to, basic life sciences, anatomy, physiology, and mathematics to writing skills, reading comprehension, reading and even (here's a left field one) trombone coaching. I have been tutoring/mentoring peers and students since my time in high school. I say mentor because I truly want to be that to your children. My help is not limited strictly to subject material but also to helping your children become better organized, manage stress from school in an efficient manner so it does not hinder their ability to succeed and progress, and to have them show integrity and pride in the work that they do, both on paper (or online) and as a person. If I have the opportunity to mentor/tutor your child I would like to be able to consult with you and their appropriate teachers frankly and often to guarantee that we are all on the same page and are shedding light on the true areas of help that your child needs so as to get right after it from the start.

Over the years of being a mentor/tutor I have learned that having patience and the ability to appeal to the student's method of learning are key elements necessary to encourage their success. It gives me pleasure to say that these are elements I have used that have provided children with awesome results in their academic goals. I am a post-college graduate with an associate's degree in literature, a bachelor's degree in English, and a Master's degree in Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine. My Master's education required me to learn and relearn subjects such as chemistry, biology, anatomy, and physiology. I have also had extensive education with writing papers to short creative stories, reading with an analytical eye, researching, grammar, and spelling. I have been a student for a long time and because of it I have needed to learn different tricks to memorize information and for studying. Need mnemonics? Your child and I can make them! Studying methods made entertaining? Let's create a story of how a goldfish cracker makes its way through the entire digestive system. Studying can obviously get boring. The time came long ago to make it more interesting. Let me pass those methods on to your kid.
