Dario's Bio & Tutoring Experience

Unlike many educators, I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring students of ALL AGES, pre-K through adult. Much of identity as an educator was formed as a Reading Specialist for the Institute of Reading Development, which I began teaching seasonal reading classes for in 2005, and have continued to teach for them through six teaching seasons. A teaching session with IRD is intense. On average I taught 11-13 classes each five week session, comprised of eight different age levels and over 150 students total. Beyond my extensive experience as a Reading Specialist, I have taught and tutored college students in writing composition for over 4 years, both in-class and individually as a Writing Center tutor for CUNY and later for Florida State University. I also gained further valuable experience tutoring students with Special Needs, as an ESE Aide for the K-8 School of Arts & Sciences. My experiences as a Reading Specialist, as a college writing educator, and as a Special Needs Aide have each provided me with new challenges and development in my career as an educator, but my success in each has come from 1) my high energy and enthusiasm as an educator, 2) my commitment to providing students with a clear organizational structure to learn within, and 3) my ability to project warmth and support when I engage with students' learning process.

I graduated Dean's List from the University of Cincinnati, with BA in English with Honors. After several years working for IRD and freelance writing in NYC, I returned to Florida State University where I received my MFA in Creative Writing Fiction. I am now a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Cincinnati in English & Creative Writing. My education has always been centered around the learning and instruction of literature, language and composition, and these are the strengths I will bring to my work as a tutor for LogonTutor.
