Duece's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I am currently an Mathematics - Secondary Education Major at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). At UNI I have held the position of a "Supplemental Instructor". This job required me to plan, teach and facilitate study sessions for a struggling Calculus I class. I was able to help students approach their learning in different perspectives than what the professor taught, to help the students achieve their academic goals in the class.

As an education major at UNI, education students are required to have field experience as a part of their degree. I will have complete my level one and two field experiences by the end to this semester. During these field experiences we are assigned a teacher from the nearby school district and are asked to observe, help individual students, plan and teach a few lessons and much more.

My job as an supplemental instructor paired with my field experiences at UNI has allowed me to work with a great variety of students with respect to age, ethnicity, social class etc. I believe I have the necessary skills to adapt to any student who may need help in a subject, especially mathematics.

I graduated in the top 10% of my class in high school at Sergeant Bluff - Luton High School and ended up finishing with a 3.7 GPA. Many academic honors and awards were also received ( if you would like more info about my high school education, please ask)

I am currently attending the University of Northern Iowa in pursuit of a bachelor degree in Mathematics - Secondary Education. I am expected to graduate in the spring of 2018.
