I have a BA in Human Development, an MA in Asian Studies, and an MS in Speech-Language Pathology. My academic background enables me to teach a variety of subjects, though I focus specifically on the following: Chinese, Japanese, Writing Skills, Reading Skills, SATs and GREs. I have extensive teaching experience in a variety of settings, including the university level (as a TA), elementary school (as a summer semester English teacher), and privately.
Beyond my academic and work experience, what makes me an outstanding tutor? I am patient, personable, and persistent. I will work with my pupils until they reach that "a-ha!" moment. I am very skilled at explaining complex ideas in accessible language. And I am adept at assessing one's current level of understanding and establishing short and long-term goals.
