James's Bio & Tutoring Experience

I graduated with honors from Harvard University and hold a degree in Biological Sciences. I have over four years of experience as a high-school tutor and have taught subjects including Math, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to a wide range of students. Additionally, I have an extensive background as an SAT/ACT instructor and have helped dozens of students improve their scores on these tests. My own SAT and ACT scores were in the 99.99 percentile and I take pride in offering unparalleled instruction in grammar, critical reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking, and test strategies. I moved to Ohio in 2011 in order to pursue a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati. Since then, I have instructed students from Indian Hills, Mariemont, Hamilton, Madeira, and St. Ursula high schools. As a tutor, I have worked with students from broad educational backgrounds and with differing learning styles. Every student learns differently and posses unique difficulties and abilities, and I am quick to tailor my teaching style to each student. Although I demand much from my students, I strive to endow them with a true love of the material, as this promotes long-term academic growth and success. I am drawn to teaching because I believe that a love of learning and knowledge can and should be taught. My goal with every student is not simply to achieve "the grade" or "the score result" but to bring out his or her highest potential by cultivating interest and promoting good study habits.
