Katie's Bio & Tutoring Experience
I have three years' experience teaching private piano lessons to children ages 3-13; five years' experience teaching history, English as a second language, and area studies at the college level; and 2 years' experience privately tutoring middle school, high school, and college students. I have found that the key to facilitating effective learning is to harness the creativity and energy of the learner and help him or her channel it to the task at hand. My teaching philosophy is very student-centered. I feel that as a teacher it is my job to do whatever I can to help each student succeed, and this mindset has helped me transfer my teaching skills from one age group to another. I am patient, positive, and energetic, attributes which have served me well in dealing with children and young adults alike.
