Kimberly's Bio & Tutoring Experience
I have worked as a 7th grade teacher in a large school district for the past nine years. The demographics of my classroom include ESL, Special Education, and low-income. I utilize many strategies in my classroom to get my students to critically think, work collaboratively, and hold high expectations for themselves. My students' benchmark data in the past years have helped prove my ability in teaching strategies for success. I have had the privilege of watching some of my former students graduate with honors and be accepted into colleges such as MIT. Of course I cannot take all of the credit for that; these students were driven and created opportunities for themselves by giving 110% effort in school. My tutoring methodology would be to first pre-assess to get an understanding of where the student is in their knowledge base. I have multiple strategies that I would use to aid in their understanding of prior and new learning, and I have multiple ways to assess. I love technology; I am a fan of Google and am knowledgeable of many educational iPad apps. I like to assess my students using technology, applying their learning to real-world issues.
