Lisa's Bio & Tutoring Experience

My name is Lisa. I am a Licensed School Librarian, currently employed at Pinewood Elementary in Monticello, MN. I have been trained to help elementary students build their basic math and reading skills. I have been doing private tutoring for over two years in the areas of English and reading for grades K-12, elementary math, ACT test prep, and college writing. Prior to private tutoring, I worked for two years in after school programs assisting students with homework, study skills, and basic skills.

For math and reading tutoring, I like to use games that engage students and build basic skills. I also use flashcards, workbooks, and real life examples. My ACT test prep consists of students taking practice tests, reviewing their areas of struggle, and reviewing basic test strategies. Finally, I offer college essay editing and help in preparing for presentations. I have experience working with students who's native language is not English. I work hard to see my students succeed and feel that success is my greatest reward.
