Mary Anne's Bio & Tutoring Experience
I have spent my entire career teaching and tutoring students - the young, the old, the native speaker, the non-native speaker - how to write with clarity, grammatical precision, and with conviction.
I have taught writers to master technical and argumentative writing as well as creative non-fiction, film and book critiques. I have successfully mentored writers through honor degree and masters theses.
I emphasize organization, critical thinking, and attention to audience.
No matter what the writing challenge, those three ingredients are the solid basis for excellent writing.
Writing can be difficult and/or intimidating, but working one-on-one can demolish those obstacles. The key is to perceive exactly what the writer needs and bring that out. It is a great reward to see a student win an honor for writing, become a published writer, or simply to have an authority figure comment on a solid accomplishment.
