Ruth's Bio & Tutoring Experience
As a volunteer for Everybody Wins! CT (now Read to a Child), I assisted elementary students in strengthening their literacy and vocabulary skills. I won’t just help your child learn to properly pronounce words, I’ll make sure they actually understand what is being read, comprehension is very important! I also had the pleasure of teaching a seven week curriculum for Junior Achievement titled Success Skills, in which I spent two days a week with a high school freshman class. By the end of the course, the students felt confident and encouraged in achieving their immediate and future employment goals. We worked on effective communication, professionalism and resume writing. My time with these students inspired me to author a free job guide for teens and young adults titled ‘So You Want to Find a Job’ and I’m currently in the distribution phase.
