Sydnee's Bio & Tutoring Experience

Hello,
My name is Sydnee and I tutor English, including grammar and reading. I am a Senior at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, majoring in English with a minor in Applied Linguistics. I have a fairly extensive personal library as well as a fair academic library including texts on linguistics, writing, grammar, and literature, so I am prepared to tutor all grade levels, elementary through college. I also have experience with editing and proofreading creative and academic work, including Competencies (for Education students), short stories, general essays, and research proposals. My undergraduate research focuses on writing as a craft.

As a member of the Honors Program at NSU, I receive a full-ride scholarship based upon my superior academic performance in school. I have maintained a 4.0 at least on a 4-point scale for my entire life. On the ACT, I scored a composite (overall) score of 31 (out of 36). I scored perfect (36) on the Reading portion of the test and scored a 34 on the English portion.

I know that, along with Math, English is one of the subjects that students often struggle with. As a tutor, I wish to help students reach a better understanding within their problem areas in the subject, hopefully helping them to gain confidence in the subject as a whole.
